    BET logoWe are pleased to be able to offer a range of garments bearing the BET logo.

    Our aims are to celebrate BET’s 20th anniversary and to enable our members and friends to show their support for BET.

    Polo shirt

    The BET logo is embroidered in one of three colours (yellow, white or black) on the front of the garment and is 7.5cm wide. The default colour combination is yellow logo on bottle green garment from the RTX product range.

    Hoodie

    Other combinations can be ordered and, for two garment types, an additional manufacturer has been included for extra choice.

    A larger version of the logo can be vinyl printed on the back, 30cm wide, in any colour.  Note that vinyl printing on fabric is less durable than embroidery and is not suitable for fleeces.

     

    Beanie

    We also offer beanie hats in a wide range of colours with an embroidered logo (yellow, white or black embroidery on a green background).

    BET Badge sm outlineFinally, we have a stock of sew-on woven badges (6.5cm) to put on garments or bags.

     

    BET is not able to host an online shop. To order a garment please follow these instructions:

    1. Browse the options below and the links to the supplier’s catalogue to see available colours, sizes and stock levels.

    2. Make a payment to BET by Bank Transfer (Account 40-34-39 31385682).  Include your name in the reference.

    3. Send a confirming email to Betwoods@yahoo.co.uk stating the garment(s) you would like and including the following details:

    Your name, address, garment type, size, colour and the colour of the logo to be embroidered on the front (yellow, white or black).  Also confirm the amount paid.

    If you would prefer a large logo printed on the back instead of a small logo embroidered on the front, please state the logo colour required.  There will be an extra cost of £5 if you require both logos – front and back.

    Orders will be placed on our supplier in batches when we have sufficient numbers. The supplier’s current leadtime is up to 4 weeks.  We will advise you when they are available for collection at the BET Cabin on a Monday morning, or for local delivery by the BET team.  There will be an additional charge for postage if you require an item to be posted.

    BET DATA PRIVACY POLICY

    What is the purpose of this document?

    On 25 May 2018, data protection law changed with the introduction of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It is a significant change for all organisations, including charities, which hold and process personal data. This policy document explains what personal information BET collects about its members and how it is used.

    ‘BET’, ‘we’,’us’ or ‘our’ means the Backwell Environment Trust, registered charity number 1109406.

    What information do we keep and why?

    We hold the minimum data necessary for the legitimate administration of our membership and donations.  The information we hold is collected from our paper membership forms and comprises:

    • Name
    • Address
    • Payments made
    • Gift Aid status
    • Contact Email address, if provided

    We do not collect any personal information on members classified as ‘sensitive’ under GDPR.

    Our website does not use logons, forms or cookies and does not collect any personal data.

    How do we use the information?

    The data provided by members is used for the following purposes:

    • providing our members with news about the activities of BET
    • this includes distribution of a hardcopy bulletin twice a year and email updates on events, workdays and meetings. Email blind carbon copy (BCC) is used to prevent contact details being visible to other members.
    • reporting of donations for Gift Aid collection and maintenance of accounting records

    We do not share any member information with third parties.

    How long do we retain your data?

    We have a legal obligation to obtain and retain, for 6 years, data relating to donations and claims for Gift Aid.

    BET Membership and Donations

    BET is a local charity and we are dependent upon the support of our members and friends for our income.  

    At the moment we have around 230 members, many of whom have become regular, enthusiastic volunteers.   Their annual membership fees and generous donations enable us to cover our costs.  We keep these to a minimum but need to pay for such items as insurance, tools, construction materials and occasionally outside contractors. We have needed to apply for one-off grants for special projects but our regular income comes from memberships and donations.

    If you have enjoyed checking out our website, visited the woodland reserves, and are interested in our future projects, please consider becoming a BET member and supporting our work.  As a member, you will receive two printed bulletins a year – Spring and Autumn – keeping you informed of all the various BET activities.

    Payment by bank transfer is preferred as there are no bank charges.  Bank details are on the form.  Payment by cheque does incur a 40p bank charge.

    BET is able to claim Gift Aid on donations, provided the donor pays more income tax than that due on the donation amount.  Please see the Membership Form for further details.

  • Volunteering with BET

    Volunteering with BET

    Our woodland volunteers meet every Monday and the third Saturday of each month, at the Cabin in Badgers Wood, just before 10am and returning around 12:15pm. See Publication & Links, Maps and Guides for the Cabin location.

    No experience is necessary – just turn up!  For further information, email Ian Chambers (ian.chambers676@gmail.com).

    Volunteering is a great way to spend an hour or two – apart from being friendly and sociable, tea and biscuits are ALWAYS provided!

    Backwell Environment Trust (BET) is 100% operated by volunteers – our trustees, members, supporters and advisors. As we have no paid staff, we can therefore ensure that all the money we raise, or is donated, can be used for the benefit of the whole community. However in today’s society, people are now busier than ever before, so we are always on the look out for new volunteers to join in and help with us the many varied tasks our trusty volunteers take on.

    Even if you only have an hour or so to spare each month rest assured we will make you very welcome! Absolutely no experience is necessary – we will supply all the training and tools as well as tea & biscuits – or even cake! So maybe you would be interested in getting involved with our woodland activities on tasks such as fencing, dry stone walling, hedge laying, coppicing, hay making, etc.

  • Junior BET

    BET is not only for adults, children are welcome to discover the enjoyment of working and playing in the woods, we have included a few ideas to get you started.

    We want to encourage our junior membership to enjoy our reserves as much as the adult membership.

    Here are a few ideas of things you might like to do…

    Join a working party on a Saturday morning and learn how to use a Saw or Loppers with a parent

    Run about and play in the woods – perhaps build a ‘Den’ with your best friend

    Climb a tree

    Take a digital camera and photograph any fungi you discover – then identify them with a book when you get home

    Enjoy the Woodland trail at the top of Jubilee Stone Wood Nature Reserve – look out for the carvings on the wooden posts

    Enjoy a pond-dipping session – remember to take a net and put back all the wildlife you discover!
