2007
The Jubilee Stone was erected to commemorate the 60th year of Queen Victoria’s reign in 1897. Since then, subsequent royal anniversaries have been added to the inscriptions on the obelisk.
When first installed on the hilltop the surrounding area was open and grazed. After the Second World War neighbouring fields were fenced off for farming and gradually scrub developed and later trees – which became Jubilee Stone Wood.
The Stone has been a focal point for the village and the venue for many celebrations over the years.
